The Vikings faced the Chinese Peking in search of a sixth consecutive win. It would have to be without first keeper Michael plus Tim and Breitner who were all unavailable.
Christian the new Danish signing made his much anticipated debut.
The lineup: Pong; Travis, Hallas, Graeme, Stein; Mofok, Chris, Martin, Jannik; Udom, Ruj.
Subs: Nick and Christian.
A small but very strong squad had showed up for the 2.30 fixture. The weather was for once not that hot. Pong agreed to take on the keeper position and Hallas filled in for Richard in defense. Vikings pressured the Chinese from the very beginning and made good use of the wingers. It came to a couple of chances but it was a Chinese player who scored in own net that set of the fireworks. Ruj came through and crossed from the right side and the Chinese defender scored the own goal. 1-0.
Ruj scored the second goal after a nice assist by Martin. 2-0.
The next goal came after some good passing when Chris found Udom who fired home. 3-0.
Chris headed home after a great assist from Stein. Everyone thought Stein was aiming for goal but actually he managed to hit Chris instead. 4-0.
Martin scored the fifth from a tight angle not far from the goal line. The Chinese keeper looked a bit surprised. 5-0.
Christian came on as left winger and headed home a nice cross from Ruj. 6-0.
The score was 6-0 at halftime and the Vikings had completely outplayed the Chinese. Only thing dangerous they came up with was a free kick opportunity but Pong saved the effort.
Second half started out with one of those moments we have all been waiting for. Mofok suddenly showed up in the penalty area and found himself one on one with the keeper. The keeper could only block his powerful effort and with dogged determination Mofok won the loose ball and sort of walked the ball into the empty net. 7-0.
Chris got his second goal and again Stein provided the assist. 8-0.
Ruj put the ball in the top corner with only the keeper to beat. 9-0.
Once again Ruj found himself one on one with the keeper after a pass from Chris. As the top striker he is there was no hesitation. 10-0.
Christian had a great debut with some good play on both left and right wing. Martin found him in front of goal and he scored his second of the day. 11-0.
Chris scored his third of the day and shortly after he assisted Ruj to his fourth goal.
13-0 was the final result which is probably one of the biggest wins in recent Vikings history.
The defense did well to keep the clean sheet and obviously everything else went according to plan. There were a couple of missed opportunities as well (Mofok, Jannik!) but no need to go further into this.
With this win the Vikings are now a serious contender for the promotion spots. I-Play lost on Saturday and both teams are now on 28 points but the Vikings have a game in hand. The Germans are also on 28 points but have played one game less than the Vikings.
Man of the match was Ruj.
