Bangkok Masters – Nothing’s for free
Tesco Lotus Bangkok Masters: May 27-28, 2006 at NIST
It was 10 happy Viking players that gathered at NIST for the first day of the Bangkok Masters of 2006. First game against Soccer Experience Masters was a tough one. SEM won the Bangkok 7’s just a month ago, so we where ready for a battle. A few good chances were created but unfortunately we did not manage to convert. The game ended 0-0. Next we had the opportunity to watch the Etihad All Stars play. With ex pro’s like Ian Rush and Clive Walker, to mention a few, this was a joy. Now we just had to qualify for the semis to get the chance to play our heroes from childhood. An unfortunate loss against BCCT ended that dream.
The last game of the day, the 1-0 win against British Club, showed some better football. Day 2 was playing for the plate. First game against Singapore Cricket Club went our way big time, as much as 5-0, with 2 goals from Jesper Keis. During the plate final against BC we played some fantastic football. No wonder our victory was secured by early goals. As coach Uddman got seriously injured with a near complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in the last minutes of the last game, the veteran season could have ended better. Uddman is out. Job applications can be sent to Viking board of management.
