Vikings – BFC 2-8

Vikings – BFC 2-8

Man of the Match
Yellow Card
Red Card

Mofok, Fran

More than a month since the last outdoor game in where we managed to collect 10 guys (incl. 3 newbie’s) the coaches were happy to see nine brave men showing up for this first summer league game. We didn’t really know what to expect but after realizing that BFC is the better part of Bullshead we know we were in for a ride… Our team was filled with high spirit but also lots of calories. I don’t think we ever have seen this many unfit and overweight Viking players on the pitch at the same time, and this didn’t even include our heaviest guys Captain Graeme and Tim Tuna fish… Amazing!

Anyway the game kicked off with a defensive 3 – 2 – 1 constellation with Marcus in goal, Joel – Stein and Mofok in defense, Big Chris and Martin V on the midfield and with Fran alone up front. Bench: Newbie Sebbe and coming late hangover Anan.

The game started of well with Vikings holding up the play with lots of possession in the first 5 or so minutes, but slowly BFC started to pick up the pace and the possession; after about 10 minutes into the game BFC scored their first goal. From there it was downhill and with our current fitness we just couldn’t keep it up. 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 followed before half time whistle. Even though we knew at half time that we wouldn’t get any points out of this game we kept our spirits high and 5 minutes into second half Mofok finds Anan with a long cross that is distributed to the Spanish Rose himself, Mr. Fran. He makes no mistake, dribbles two guys and slams it up into the far corner. Beautiful goal and 1-4. For a while we played some nice football with lots of possession in the back with Stein Arne as the big front man. Some nice combinations could have led to another goal but instead the quick footed Spaniards and Brazilians in BFC played out their full register and hammered in 1-5, 1-6 and 1-7. There was more to come from the mighty Vikings though… Martin V threw one of his trademarked throw-ins that accidently landed on something big between Mofok’s legs in the box, tap-in and 2-7. Game ended 2-8 but all smiling faces in the Vikings team and we are more than ready for next week. No schedule received yet though so be ready for any team.
