Nothing less than three points would do if the Vikings would still hope to avoid relegation. It was never going to be any easy task though with a depleted squad and against a team that always fights well.
Lineup: Marcus; Anan, Stein, Martin V, Flemming; Micke, Henrik, Chris, Jannik; Hallas, Tim Subs: Fran and A
With only one of the usual back four available it was always going to be a tough task to fend off the quick Germans. The first half an hour showed this clearly as the Vikings came under heavy pressure. Marcus had many good saves but couldn’t do much about the shot that gave GAS the lead 0-1. The Vikings mostly tried their luck with long balls trying to find a winger or a striker but this didn’t amount to a whole lot of chances. Chris had a good effort during the end of first half but the ball went just wide. So the halftime score was 0-1.
During second half it was still GAS that seemed to be well in control of the game making good use of their big squad. Vikings tried to force the play in search of the equalizer but instead it often lead to dangerous counter attacks where Marcus came up with some amazing saves to deny the Germans. As it turned out the Vikings never managed to find the back of the net and somehow the Germans didn’t get anything from their many chances either. Final score 0-1 and another disappointing display from the Vikings.
