Vikings leave it late in a narrow win…

Claus was the last-gasp hero with a goal five minutes from time in Viking’s crucial 2-1 win over John Smiths…
Viking’s with an offensive line-up leaving coach Mofok on the bench had a terrible start to the game. It seems like we lacked confidence and commitment for the first twenty minutes or so. All quiet and couldn’t get our game going. The situation that led to 1-0 for JS occurred after a free-kick from a tight angle outside the penalty box from the right. The ball somehow managed to slip between Michael Goalie’s fingers an in to the net.
As much as the first half appeared to be a wide-open, up-and-down affair, John Smiths controlled much of the run of play, especially from the middle of the half on. No real chances for Vikings at all in first half and a superb save with the tip of Michael’s foot late in first half kept us in the game for second half.

I can’t say that a newborn Vikings team came out for second half but at least there were some fighting spirit and showing of balls… Some tough tackles from both sides ended up in a red card for a John Smith player. In the heat of the moment Bjerner had the quote of the day straight in the face of JS asshole for a coach, Kevin, quote: “You look like a pig…” End of story. After the sending of, Vikings picked up the pieces and after 20 minutes of second half, Man of the Match performing, Martin V, hits the ball wonderfully from 25 meters. No chance for the keeper and 1-1.

Now the spirit was back. Some beautiful one-touch passing and a long-run from Bjerner ended up with a clear chance for Claus inside the box with only ten minutes to go. Claus said after the game that he put his foot in some field-mouse hole and that’s why he missed… Anyhow, five minutes from time Claus gets his revenge with some nice tricks before sending the ball in to the net and all three points in the bag for the Scans. A relief. A new game against top team Anatolia on Saturday. A much better performance needed…
