Vikings vs. Sunbelt

Finally we got the win we’ve been waiting for!! The fact that the winner came in the last minute made it even sweeter! Things could have been different though as we started out pretty sloppy and let an easy goal in already after 5 minutes when the Viking defense was unable to clear a Sunbelt cross and their striker put, what looked like a miss hit, in the back of the net behind our deputy goal keeper Breitner. After that we picked up the pace and on the day tried to keep the ball on the ground and was actually able to produce some decent football. We got our reward after 20 minutes when Chris rushed to the front post to head in a beatiful taken corner by Stein. 1-1 was also the score at halftime. In the second half both teams were looking to grab the winner and Breitner had to put up couple of quality saves to deny the Sunbelt strikers. On our hand we missed quite a few good chances but the Viking strikers lacked the sharpness in front of goal. It looked liked the game, despite all chances, was gonna end in a draw, until the last minute when Chris chased down a ball just inside the box, turned the Sunbelt defender and put a cross in where the shortest player on the pitch, Udon, got highest and headed home. 2-1!!!shorlty after that the referee blew the final whistle and we could collect our first since the first week of the season! “Man of the match” was Chris, playing out of position on the wing.

We looked a good side all across the pitch with CEO doing a great work to keep their number 10 in place and Terry looking as solid as ever. Sweeper accompanied C1 on the middle of the park and was a big presence as long as he could go on and Udon is looking to be a really good signing with his ability to keep the ball at his feet. Also we might not have to look for a golie anymore as Breitner is looking comfortable in there. Also with Martyn coming back to the team and if we can get Anders (the new Dane) to have Saturdays off for football, things are looking quite good for the future!!We just got to keep on playing more of the short passes instead of just kicking it long all the time. Let’s build on this win and we will surely climb the table!!

Vikings – Sunbelt: 2-1
1-1 Chris (Stein)
2-1 Udon (Chris
