Back to losing ways …
Inspired by our recent good form we started out well against the Winking Frog and could have had the lead after only a few minutes but Udon put the ball wide clean through with the goalie. That didn’t put us down and we continued to produce chances with Breitner coming closest with a header of a corner which the Frog keeper somehow kept out. We would eventually get the goal we deserved when Breitner, who again got the nod to play upfront despite failing to produce in recent games, paid off his coaches’ faith in him and was there to tap in a C2 shot for an easy goal. After the goal maybe we thought this was going to be easy because the quality of our game dropped drastically and it wouldn’t take to long before The Frogs got the equalizer. Our problem with letting in easy goals continued and we were to let another one in just before half-time. 1-2 was also the score going into the break.
Despite being down we weren’t too discouraged and felt we could get something from the game. Second half started as the first with us dominated the game and we got our reward from a corner when C1 spotted an unmarked Chris who put the ball in the top left corner with a powerful header. The momentum was now on our side and it seemed just a matter of time before we would get a third goal of the afternoon. Halfway through the half Breitner was again unlucky with a nice header which was cleared off the line by a defender. Instead of getting that crucial goal The Frogs once again got their noses in front 10 minutes from time through a great top corner volley, out of reach of William in goals. Not much to do about that and hats off to a great strike, even though the feeling was it was a once in a lifetime shot. We had now no options but too push everything forward. Today it wasn’t to be though and instead of grabbing the equalizer we were punished for our all out attack approach, 2-4. Shortly thereafter the referee blew the final whistle. We didn’t deserve to loose today but you can’t afford not to take your chances upfront and letting in easy goals in the back. The positive thing we have to take with us going into the Christmas break is that we’re now starting to play as a team and keeping the ball on the ground more. Maybe the training on Tuesdays does pay off after all. Great to see so many of you there, lets keep it up!!!
