Warbler winning streak broken by persistent Scans team

After having won around 23 games in a row Warbler must have felt quite confident going into this game and that confidence grew even stronger when they scored on a beautiful volley from long distance after only 10 minutes of the game.

Vikings however, kept believing that they could stop the Warbler winning record and slowly started getting control of the game, but only creating few chances in the 1st half, seeing Palle’s diving shot from short distance saved by the goalie.

In the second half Vikings fight for control of midfield started paying off. Anders gave the midfield extra strenght with his ability to hold onto the ball and with a hardworking middle-midfield of Nick, Palle, Jakob and Sharad around him, Vikings pushed forward.

Anders had a wonderful shot saved by a well-playing keeper, who must have been named man-of-the-match for Warbler. Michael had a header saved on the goal-line and more good chances came Vikings way before they finally drew level. A Nick corner bounced around the penalty box off the heads of several players before Anders got the last touch 50 cm. from the goal line.

Vikings kept control of the game for the remainder of the game without finding that winning goal.

Well deserved Carlsbergs were sponsored after the game (Thanks) and the game proved that with this Vikings line-up we can easily play with the best in the league. Michael received 4 votes for Man-of-the-match for his performance in defence, where he together with CEO, Staale and Ole Bomber kept Warbler’s normally deadly offense at bay.

Nick, Jakob and Palle all received 2 votes each for their work in midfield, but Man-of-the-Match (6 votes) was once again Anders, for his ability to control the ball in the middle and give Vikings a chance to move up the field with the ball, which has been a reoccuring problem over the season, where the ball seemed to be moving up field ahead of the players. Maybe he also received a vote or two for jumping that inch higher than the other 4 guys on the goal line, scoring the only Vikings goal.

Let’s keep the momentum going. Hopefully we can keep this line-up for the coming games. We are a good team, who has the ability to play great when we work together, but it all depends on our desire to win. We can easily lose to any team in the league, but we can also beat any team if we WANT to, which was proven against Warbler.

Good performance everyone!

Scans man of the game: Anders, he scored the matchwinner….
